Pour Over

What You Need:

  • Freshly roasted Render coffee

  • Kalita Wave 185 Dripper or other pour over dripper

  • Coffee filter

  • Gooseneck kettle

  • Scale

  • Decanter or large mug

  • Guide: 

    • Grind: Medium

    • Brew Time: 3:30 minutes

    • Water Temperature: 200*F/ 94*C

    • Water to Coffee Ratio: 1: 16

    • Recipe: 22g : 355g/ml  

  1. Weigh out medium ground coffee and set aside.

  2. Place filter in the cone portion of the brewer.

  3. Rinse filter with water to help stick to the brewer and wash away any taste of paper. Empty.

  4. Place the decanter on your scale and the brewer on the decanter. Add your coffee to the filter and clear the scale.

  5. Slowly pour in 50g of recently boiled water to wet all grinds and bloom the coffee. Pour in 15 seconds and let drain for 15 seconds. 

  6. Then pour 100g in 30 seconds and let drain for 30 seconds.

  7. Pour an additional 100g in 30 seconds and let drain for 30 seconds.

  8. Pour a final 105g for 30 seconds; this should finish draining in 3:30-4 minutes.
